Change The World… Yes “WE” can

Hearts, Souls, Minds and maybe a nation were changed today!
Seeing the faces of many races filled with hope inspired me as I watched the audience listening to Barack Obama’s spectacular acceptance speech. I glanced out of my window onto a cloudless night and saw the last quarter of the moon and in that moment I had a deep sense that something other than a moon cycle or even a presidency was coming to an end.
History was made in the United States on the evening of November 4th 2008. Not only was the first man of colour elected to office as the American President, but more people came out to vote than in the history of the country.
I have to say I’m excited: Not just for what a new presidency can bring, but for something more important than that… You see it seems to me that over the last almost a decade people have gotten lazy and complacent. The media had served up super size portions of fear that the average person stuffed down by either pursuing more and more stuff or looking outside of themselves to either blame or solve “the problem”.
Something exciting is happening: This US Presidential Election has awakened a sleeping giant, a mighty force. A force that is growing not only in the US but also across the world.
It is a force that too many had dismissed as lazy and disinterested. However, this sleeping giant had begun to choke on the fear that was being force fed down its throat. The blessing is that the fear has awakened the giant to realize that the world must be changed. It will take the force of a new generation to do it. The sleeping giant, the force that has been awakened are the milenial’s, also known as generation WE, the young people are no longer sleeping, they are waking up on mass and reclaiming the planet. They are saying “Yes We Can!”
‘Generation WE’ is the largest generation on the planet, they far out number the baby boomer and this presidential election they came out to vote. They voted not just for Obama, they came out to vote for change. They came out to vote and in so doing they have made a statement that the giant is awake. What’s more, this giant is awakening all over planet earth. We can clearly see it in the US, however, remember that the largest portion of the Chinese nation are also generation WE and for that matter so are the Iranian’s.
Ladies and gentlemen the world is changing…
The time of entitlement and complacency is in its last quarter and we, Baby Boomers, Gen X’ers and WE’s can no longer wait for someone or something else to fix ‘it’.
As much as many people would like to think Obama will change the world, it’s unlikely to be changed by one man. However, it is certain that this world, our world, can be changed by the clear focus, intention and action of all of us. We don’t know the future, but I can tell you that it’s more important than ever to be ready for anything.
Open your heart, soul and mind to greater possibilities for yourself and the planet. Take action, take action today, do something to build your dream and in so doing commit to making the world a better place because you are in it!
