President Barack Obama addresses the House Dem...

Are There Any REAL Leaders left?

When I was a boy, I wanted to be an American. It wasn’t the cowboys or Hollywood that appealed to me. It was something more, something deeper.

In America I saw a country where it was truly possible to become more than the stature of your birthplace. I saw America as a country that grew great leaders.

Today, as a man in his 50s, having traveled to many places around the world, I have seen many political leaders from many different nations say one thing and do another. My belief in the inherent beauty in people has grown and sadly, at the same time, so has my cynical view about the words of politicians.

“Every leader, every genius, every star must face the pull toward mediocrity.

The pull that will keep you from your own brilliance is the need to be accepted.

Remember no greatness was ever achieved without opposition”. ~Dõv Baron…

Back on January 20th 2009, hopeful tears rolled down both my British and my wife’s Fijian cheeks like streams that suddenly appear across a dried up desert after an unexpected rainfall.

I know our tears were merely drops in the ocean of the collective joyous tears being shed not just in the US, but around the world.

On that day, as I watched the inauguration of Barack Obama as the 44th President of USA, I saw the shoots of faith burst through in what has been a desert of leadership desperation. Barack Obama had inspired a stream that had awakened a spirit of greatness that had lain dormant for far too long.

Barack Obama did not claim to be a wizard who could wave a magic wand and fix everything. In his Inaugural speech, he made it clear that for dreams to come true work is needed and that part of that work is about being inclusive rather than exclusive.

This man, the new president of the U. S of A was all about Change. Eloquent and articulate, Barack Obama was, for so many, the manifestation of Martin Luther King Jr.’s civil rights dream.

America may have been, and may still be, if only by a thread, the leader of the free world. However, to be a nation that leads the free world, that nation must have a “True Leader” at the helm. A leader who has integrity, someone who says what they will do, and does what they say. Sadly, it seems to me that there are fewer and fewer True Leaders in the world today.

And so I ask: Where are the contemporary Gandhi, Martin Luther King Jr., Rosa Parks, Indira Gandhi, Nelson Mandela, JFK?

Where are men and women who are willing to do the work that is necessary to change the world?  Are there no REAL leaders left?

Just to be clear:  I’m not attacking Barak Obama; remember I was delighted at his having been elected as President. I’m simply asking–Are There No REAL Leaders left?

So what are the qualities of a Real Leader providing Authentic Leadership?

For years I traveled and studied with great masters and along the way I became fascinated with leaders. Not just any leader, but great leaders men and women who walked their talk, who stood in the face of rejection and were unwavering in their convictionsSome of these leaders were people I personal didn’t like or agree with, but they had certain qualities in common and I decided to make a study of those qualities. In fact, it is upon the framework of that research that I developed what I call my Core Affluence System for leadership development.

To start off, the term “affluence” is most often assigned as being directly and even exclusively related to money, and that is not the case. The root meaning of the word affluence is flow. So if a person is affluent, they are in the flow.  The Core of  Core Affluence System is a multi-layered acronym. However, I’d like to share with you the first layer of the Core Affluence System

C: Clarity.

A great leader must have a clarity of purpose. Great leaders know specifically what they want and why they want it!

O: Ownership.

A great leader takes complete ownership of that purpose. They have a burning desire, a sense of mission about their purpose!

R: Resilience.

A great leader stays the course, does not lose focus just because of opposition.

E: Expansiveness.

A great leader has a laser beam level of clarity about the desired outcome, however, they are also expansive in their thinking about how that outcome will come to fruition.

Every great leader I have researched and studied operated from a place of Core Affluence !

In the interest of transparency and at the risk of upsetting some folks, from my position it seems most contemporary leaders, even those in personal development, have become pretty wishy-washy, passive and placating.  What they say and what they do seems designed to validate denial and make people feel good for a short time. (And my comments aren’t meant to be taken personally.  Some great folks are aspiring to be leaders, but that’s not the same as being a REAL LEADER in the world today)

Much has dramatically changed since I began my path several decades ago. However, I’m left wondering if you still yearn for leaders and teachings delivered by higher caliber leaders who stand in integrity and are willing to call you to stand with them in yours?

I look forward to your feedback

"Don't Read This...Unless You Want More Money"

"Don't Read This...Unless You Want More Money"

How can you get in that flow of affluence you so desperately desire?

Something I’d like to make clear is this:

“In life you don’t get what you deserve;

you get what you believe you deserve.”

~Dõv Baron

What that means is the idea or belief you have about your worth will end up determining your bank account.

This is why bad things happen to good people and real “douche bags” seem to have good fortune.

This part may be a bit of a stretch for you, but I promise that I’ll back it all up with science later. For now I would like for you to consider that all the situations and circumstances we find ourselves in come from something I call Unconscious Deserving.

Our Unconscious Deserving is held in place by a set of beliefs that you have accepted without question up until now. This set of beliefs tells us our worth and, as such, what we deserve.

Now before you jump to any conclusions, you should know, for the most part, this is all going on unconsciously and all too often doesn’t make any sense to the conscious mind. Nonetheless, whatever it is that we unconsciously believe we deserve is what is being fed directly out into the quantum field. (We’ll take a good look at this later in the book.)

Now, what’s great is that when you begin questioning even your conscious beliefs, you are inadvertently questioning your level of unconscious deserving. As a result, you begin changing or at least shaking the foundations of what has been your unconscious deserving. By doing that, what starts showing up in your life is very different from what has been your usual fare.

So Where Are We?

As you might have guessed, what all this means is your wealth is based on your self-worth, which is why so few people ever achieve financial independence. They either devalue or just don’t recognize their worth.

Feel free to share this article with your friends and leave you comments and feedback.

With gratitude,

There Is No Corporate Ladder

Each Ending is a New Beginning

What follows is an except from my upcoming book: “Don’t Read This…Unless You Want Mare Money!” subconscious tactics of the truly affluent. Due for release May 4th 2010

The years immediately preceding 2008 were politically turbulent ones. The United States and many other countries were actively involved in two major wars and several smaller ones. The threat of terrorism had become
media normality and the housing market had gone nuts. Nonetheless, money was flowing, there were lots of jobs, and the Internet was booming.

Despite insane gas prices and greater evidence of global warming, cash was flowing and people were still buying bigger and bigger homes, Gucci bags, and gigantic SUVs. The economic theme song could easily have been made famous by the Beatles:

“Money…that’s what I want.”

Then in the late summer of 2008, there came a whispering of something many refused to hear. Many went out and borrowed more in hopes of buying even at a high price because they were sure it would get higher. Suddenly, at least for those who refused to see the signs, the economic airbus crashed into the mountain of hope.

A wave of economic devastation that would potentially collapse the global economy began to drown us.  A tsunami of fear flooded the globe and jobs disappeared under the surge. Homes were foreclosed. Banks went under and long established old money companies went bankrupt or needed the government to bail them out.

Was it all over? Would business recover? Was this some kind of an apocalyptic warning that the end was near?

These were questions spoken about on the news, late night talk shows and in living rooms around the world.

As I write this book, it’s more than a year ago since it was made official that we were in a global recession. Although bankruptcies were up by an unprecedented 34.6 percent over the first quarter of 2009, a subtle but growing sense of hope is returning.

This hope is not for things to return to the way they were, although there are many who would want it that way.

The growing hope seems to be for a growing “healthy economy,” based more on collaboration that direct and adversarial completion.

The world and its economics have changed, and I don’t believe it can ever be the same.

The belief in a stable job has buckled at the knees.

The corporate ladder has been pushed over.

The result is that many people are less willing to be dependent on some outside force for their financial certainty. In many ways, it is that quiet rumbling within the middle class mind that has catalyzed this book into reality.

Yes, the economy has changed. However, the opportunity to live the life of your dreams did not die with the announcement of a recession.

There have been many recessions, 14 since the “Great Depression” of  1929 and although people thought some of them were going to be financially fatal, in the long run that was never an actuality.

In this new economy we will have to do things differently, and this book is dedicated to you discovering how you cannot only survive but flourish by tapping into what you have that no one else has—even if you don’t know what that is—yet.

So let’s use this ending as a new beginning.

What if the apparent economic devastation ends up being a gift, what opportunities await you?

I look forward to hearing your comments and feedback.

With gratitude,
