Winning is an Inner game… for two.

I know how you feel, I’ve been there…I know you have your reasons to say ‘no’ to yourself, reasons to say ‘no’ to your dreams.

Maybe you’ve been knocked down too many times, and you just don’t know if you can get up again.  But, know this:  As you stand here on the edge between where you were and where you want to be, life will throw you curve balls, life throws curve balls at us all.

Life may seem cruel and hard and what you need to know is, if you believe that then life will knock you down and it will keep you down, if you don’t find the courage to stand up.

Those around you may tell you that you are not good enough, and they may say it so often that you may even begin to believe it. If that happens, you will find yourself looking for someone or something to blame and every time you do, you are telling yourself that you don’t have what it takes to get up.

That’s a lie!

Life will knock you down, but that doesn’t matter anywhere as much as how hard you can get knocked down without giving up on yourself and on your dreams. I know you’ve been hurt, I know you’ve been disappointed…now what?

Many get hit and they never get up, others go to a certain point and they stop.  Let me ask you what would happen if you got up again?

What would happen if you held a greater vision of what you were capable of, and you held this vision despite everything they told you?

Don’t get me wrong, it might not be easy but, let me share with you what more than twenty-five years of research has shown: What is likely to happen firstly is there will be resistance; it could be resistance from your own ego-mind doing its best to keep you safe in the same old, (often miserable) comfort zone. Sometimes, the resistance is external, those who love you, telling you to be careful, “you don’t want to make a fool of yourself” or some other equally rational answer.

Seriously, stop for a moment and let me ask you this:

When you get to your deathbed…

do you think you’ll regret the times you looked foolish pursuing your dreams in order to live the life you came here to live, or do you think you would experience much more regret at not looking foolish and never reaching what you deeply now know you are capable of?

Listen carefully, your ego-mind can be like a ruthless crooked lawyer building a case using whatever it can while calling its lies “logical reasons”.  What you have to do is employ the fierce power that is the fire in your heart that cries out for you to live your dreams.

I get it! You’ve been knocked down and it hurts, the question is, will you get up?

And what will get you up?

What is it that will have you spring to your feet like Rocky and say,

“Is that the best you’ve got!?”

Decide you can, decide you can’t, either way you’re right.

Winning is an inner game and so is losing!

It’s a game played by two: Your authentic self, that gently whispers for the expression of your dreams and your ego-mind that wants to keep you ’safe’ screaming at you to stay safe by repressing those dreams.

I sign off each of these writings with the statement: ‘live with courage’ because…

courage is not the absence of fear, courage is when you are terrified and you get up and do it anyway!

Share this with your friends and leave me your feedback.
Until next time, “LIVE WITH COURAGE’’,

  • Hi Dov

I have been following all your lectures since the beginning and you hit the nail on the head many times. You were instrumental in a decision I made recently; I am going to dump ALL my STUFF and emigrate to Ireland (from South Africa) at the end of August this year (I've already got the plane ticket). The only things I will take are my dreams and one or two electronic components to achieve them.

Thank you for putting the excitement back into my life.

    Kind regards

I graduated from art school 30 years ago and sold every painting in my degree show but for some reason, unknown to me, I never felt the need to replace them. I am strongly affected by other people's paintings, critical and angry when I see bad paintings and strong feelings of regret and loss when I see work that I admire. My negative beliefs or bad experiences that have caused my procrastination seem to be deeply buried but your inspirational writings are giving me the courage to move forward, maybe I don't need to know why but just dust off my paintbox and see what happens. Thank you so much. Ann

    …Continued from my comment above…
I understand that we need our egos as a means of challenging us in order to grow and learn. But, it appears that our egos do not challenge us as much as they overwhelm us. The former being productive, and the latter being counter-productive.

Dov, it would be wonderful if you would shed some light on this issue, for all of us who are baffled with this question. Thanks so much!!!

    Hi Dov,

You seem to have an impeccable sense of timing with your word of encouragement. I don’t know how you do it, although it doesn’t surprise me at all. I really needed to hear your wonderful words of encouragement exactly at this time too…amazing! Thank you.

I also have a question for you. What I really don’t understand is…well…here goes:
Since our ego-minds always seem to get in the way of our authentic self, always fighting to be in the driver’s seat, lying to us, cheating us from what we really deserve; since our ever conflicting egos come with the human experience, why did we choose the human body here on earth to be our host in learning our very important life lessons? It seems with all the vast space in the entire universe, surely we could have found a better host, one that is more cooperative and works in harmony with our authentic self. Could we not have found a more advantageous way to learn our lessons and more productively?

The timing on this blog couldn't have been more perfect. It was exactly what I needed after wasting another day of living in fear , self-loathing and self-doubt.
  • Hi Dov, I love reading your words of wisdom and find a great satisfaction that your thoughts and teachings are so similar to mine. As a pro motivational speaker I have learned and borrowed certain phrases and ideas from many mentors. les Brown, Bob Proctor, Zig Zigla, Brian Tracy and Tony Robbins. Most of this information has been around for centuries, however it is in your delivery of this information. the no bull S*&^%t explanation of what is needed for personal success that really excites me. You have a unique in your face communication that is as modern as today. it works for me Dov!
I am thrilled that during my future seminars and keynotes that I may be allowed to quote you, and your philosophies and in that way spread your name throughout Europe. I am still awaiting your box set to be delivered and longing to apply it to my life. cheers John E Regan

    Thank you, Dov.

I am grateful for your work and I thank you not only for myself but on behalf of another, whom you have helped. You see... I shared the information about your free videos with friends across the miles. One friend let me know that he did not have time to view them because his life was not simply falling into pieces but that he had been living in the crumbs over the course of his life. The details of his latest series of unfortunate events left him literally running for the hills, just to escape.

Since I had been intensively immersed in the EFM Home Study Program (etc), I naturally resonated your ideas in a letter to my friend. It was during his crises that I wrote him, so I included a note to say, 'Read this again, when you're ready'.

Well, he wrote back after his 'escape' to say that he decided to go for his dreams. He went on to say that he had taken the steps to put the action into play. (i.e. He enrolled in university and will live in the dorm, which will get him out of the milieu that he feels is inhibiting him, and he will be able to play his music, which is his passion.) He acknowledged the fear but is doing it anyway!

I'm just so grateful to you because your comprehensive program is so powerful that your teachings resonated through me to touch the life of this young man in his crucial time of need. ~Infinite thanks.

    All my best.

Thank you for your encouragement, I really needed to hear, Read that message

Courage is when you feel the FEAR and get up and do it anyway. . . I am at a point where I am ready to give up my job with nothing else in sight I keep thinking about the saying that goes something like If I had held on a bit longer I would or could Make it. . How much is enough

I've just finished listening the the Resonating Riches CDs whilst I am waiting for my fabulous boxed set to arrive.

Thank you for sharing so many of your experiences, and YES, I'd love to come over to your live workshops and shake your hand!! I've never been to Canada!

The message above is especially important to me as I am out on a limb and working through things alone - no like-minded folks around at the moment. However I should meet somebody next week who could take me a step further towards what I want to do and I have set in motion certain things already - with your prompting!

I feel I am going to move ahead so much with your help, I love your energy!

    Many thanks
    Diane
